The Ram’s Nightmare
The currently ongoing Painting Project, “Tyagaraja,” is dedicated to the Carnatic (South Indian Classical) Music Composer, Kakarla Tyagabrahmam (CE 1767 – 1847). Popularly known as Tyagaraja, he is credited with 688 compositions, almost all devoted to the Hindu God Rama, an incarnation of the preserver, Vishnu.
Tyagaraja’s compositions span a range of emotions, from pleading to sulking, from joy and love to dejection.
